Its like -where IS they??- innit?

Day 51:

Today was the earliest start we’ve had in a long time (about 7am) – and it probably did us the world of good.

After a speedy breakfast on the go we headed off to Dory and Dennys Church. We were made very welcome in the older group study session, before moving over to the church hall for the actual service. Sharon – having grown up as a Catholic girl (though not a very strict one) found the experience markedly different from what she’s been used to! she says there doesn’t seem to be too many Catholic churches that use ‘YouTube’ and a live band in their mass.. It was really nice to go along and meet a load of the people we had been hearing about from Dory and Denny, and put faces to the names..

From the Church Denny drove us about an hour out to a big old family get together. This was at my second cousin Tara’s house, which is out on a big lake. We spent a truly fantastic day first meeting, then getting to know my extended family! these guys I’d only seen in photos before and heard stories about from my Mum and Brother. Tara and Bob had laid on a massive BBQ feast, so we all sat in the glorious sunshine eating and drinking by the pool and bar area, with the Saints NFL game on in the background.. After a few beers, we hit the driving range – pinging a load of golf balls from their garden out into the lake.. some of us more successfully than others! Sharon threw hers in out of frustration, and one of mine nearly took my head off as it rebounded back off the lawn edging hahaha. Tara and Bob then insisted we took one of their Jetski’s out on the lake for a bit of a blast around. So we got a briefing from Chase, who told me what the controls were ! It was my first time riding one, and the speed of it put a big grin on my face.. I was a bit wary of its cornering ability to begin with, so I handed control over to the Professional (Sharon) to give me a quick lesson. As we raced back and forth accross the lake, we mentally noted all number of houses which we’d happily live in! We talked long into the evening, and Sharon and I did a good job of putting people off of visiting England, we’re just loving the states so much, England doesn’t seem so good to us now… Sharon still insists English chocolate is better though!
